CHAKWAL: Two armed robbers looted eight commuters near the Joya Mair oil field on the Dhakku-Joya road on Sunday, the police said.

A resident of Chakwal city, Rizwan Khan was returning from the Jamalwal Village with his friend Abrar Shah in a Suzuki pick-up truck when they were stopped by two armed men on a deserted section of the road.

The robbers took Rs190,000 in cash from the two victims as well as their mobile phones. The robbers then held the two men at gun point as they waited for more commuters to pass through.

Mohammad Usman and Asad Farooq, residents of the Odherwal Village were also stopped by the robbers who took Rs65,000 and two mobile phones from them. These two friends were also held hostage by the bandits. Sometime later, four more commuters including Nawab Khan, Toqir Abbas, Mohammad Ashraf and Sajjad Hussein were also intercepted by the robbers.

The Saddar police have registered a case and are trying to track down the robbers.
