Missing boy found strangled

CHAKWAL: The mutilated body of a 12-year-old boy, who went missing a week ago, was found from the banks of a mini-dam, police here said on Sunday.

The police said the boy was first sexually assaulted and then strangled to death by a 25-year-old suspect. A resident of Mehro village and a student of 7th class, the boy went missing on July 30. His father reported the disappearance of his son to the police on Aug 1.

“My son wanted to go to the Munday village to watch a kabaddi match there.

“He went to a friend of my elder son and asked him to accompany him to the match. My elder son’s friend took him to the fields asking him they would go to the match after collecting fodder for the cattle,” the father told Dawn.

After killing the boy, the accused threw the body in the dam which floated to the bank after a week. “The body was mutilated,” police investigating officer Ali Abbas told Dawn.

The police have started investigations after registering a case against the suspect.

Sources said the suspect had been arrested but the police did not confirm it.
