CHAKWAL: The Chakwal Police have arrested 413 proclaimed offenders, involved in heinous crimes, in 2016.
This was stated by District Police Officer Munir Masood Marath while talking to mediapersons on Monday.
He said 89 proclaimed offenders belonged to A-category while 214 were listed in B-category.
He, however, said 56 proclaimed offenders were still at large but vowed to arrest them soon.
The DPO said 38 persons were booked for providing shelter to proclaimed offenders.
Chakwal district witnessed 54 murder cases in 2016 in which 108 persons were accused out of which 90 were arrested.
“The arrest ratio of murder accused remained 83pc which is highest in ten years,” DPO Marath said.
He added that not a single case of kidnapping for ransom registered in 2016. As many as 36 cases of robberies were registered in 2016 in which 111 persons were involved but the police managed to arrest 92.
“The recovery of robbed items remained 93pc which is also highest as in last decade.
Police have submitted charge sheets against the accused in 31 cases.
